The Father H. Dwyer Humanitarian Award
Bravo Waterbury!, represented by its Program Director, Calida Jones 

Calida Jones manages the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra's intensive music program Bravo Waterbury! for CCS grades K through 3 four days a week, three hours a day year-round.

Presented by international recording artist Marty Q - pop and jazz singer/songwriter, saxophonist, and guitarist.

The Corporate Award
The MacDermid Corporation, represented by Steve Castaldi

Steve Castaldi is Director of Electronics Specialties at MacDermid, an international chemicals business headquartered in Waterbury. Steve is also a member of the CCS Board of Directors and of the team that judges the school's annual Science Fair.

Presented by Moriah Fortunato, CCS graduate, alumnus of the Washington Montessori School, and currently a sophomore at Westover School in Middlebury.

The Attorney Robert E. Mellon Service Award
The Greater Waterbury YMCA, represented by its Executive Director, Jim O'Rourke 

For the past two years, the Waterbury YMCA has been A Perfect Partner with Children's Community School, managing the 5K race that has showcased and raised funds for both nonprofits. Under the incredible leadership of the Y's Executive Director, Jim O'Rourke, assisted by the Y's Kristin Heller, the race has "run" without a hitch and with minimal expense. We are indebted to this kind of partnership.


Presented by Ryan Gomes, a Waterbury native whose superior talent in basketball earned him entry into the NBA, the Boston Celtics, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the L.A. Clippers. He is also the founder of the nonprofit Hoops for Heart Health, which places AEDS (Automatic External Defibrillators) in every NBA city across the country.

Led by Assistant Teacher "Ms. Kishana," CCS students have perfected their dance routine to the point of performance quality. We are proud!

The President's Award for Volunteerism
Sue Mellitt 

Sue Mellitt is not only a member of the CCS Board of Directors but our Head Librarian, co-director of this year's Annual Dinner, volunteer member of our Poinsettia Campaign, and fulfiller of numerous other "johnny-on-the-spot" fundraising needs. She has proven to be one of the most generous volunteers CCS has experienced, and we are deeply grateful to her.
